I can’t include license. License is not the same as liberty & freedom. We get the term licentiousness from the word license. Licentiousness is defined as the wanton disregard or transgression of laws, rules, or moral norms.
According to scripture (and Church teaching)the angels were created with free will. Some freely chose God. Some chose to rebel. It was a one time choice. Once made it was set in stone for eternity.
When God created man He gave them the same gift; free will. God knew that in order to truly love, in order to truly choose God, man had to have free will. God gave man broad freedom. You can have all of the(freedom) trees, save one(limit). Wouldn’t you know it,they thought they were missing out on something and chose that 1 thing.
Human freedom is broad but human freedom has limits. As you can tell I’m only stating the obvious.
Our founding fathers understood this. In forming the new government they put it in writing that the government had to come from the CONSENT of the governed.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines freedom s CCC 1731 Freedom is the power, rooted in reason and will, to act or not to act, to do this or that, and so to perform deliberate actions on one’s own responsibility. By free will one shapes one’s own life. Human freedom is a force for growth and maturity in truth and goodness; it attains its perfection when directed toward God, our beatitude.
The words freedom and liberty are interchangeable. So when we learned that Patrick Henry declared give me liberty or give me death we understood very well what he meant. We also understand that people are willing to fight and die for it. Man has an innate desire for freedom but people have another desire to be comfortable. Not all of the colonists were ready to ditch the monarchy in England. They probably thought they were free, but they were also comfortable.
The founding fathers knew they were dealing with a tyrant.
When it was all said and done and they formed the Republic the governing body was broken into 3 branches; the executive, legislative and judicial so that power would be divided among them and not in the hands of 1 person.
They wrote their intentions as plain as day. We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal endowed by their Creator(God) with inalienable rights. They understood;our rights come from God,not the state.
What about liberalism? It comes from the word liberal, not liberty. You can search the internet and find out liberalism itself is considered to be 2 different camps; they call one classical liberalism and the other is called modern liberalism or progressive. Personally, i don’t get the difference.
For me a liberal is one who takes a coloring book and crayons then colors all over the page. We’ve watched kids do that and they feel pretty satisfied with their art work. Anarchists are the people who would take the book, tear it up then melt the crayons in a fire. Too close for comfort i say. One’s quieter and non violent. I’m not impressed.
Now we realize the progressives were just cover for Marxism.
Marxism is antithetical to liberty, freedom and our God given rights.Better to stay as far away from it as possible. Nancy Pelosi is one power hungry person. Marxism attracts those kind of people. God forbid you stand in her way.
Biden is corrupt (and not too bright either). He’s more interested in money than power. Power can get you money so that’s where his interest is. Pelosi is more interested in power for the sake of power; money is a side benefit to her. Biden doesn’t really get what it means to be the President of the United States. He just wanted to BE President. Does that make sense?
Maybe that’s why Pelosi had a personal vendetta against Trump. It wasn’t just politics. She didn’t hide it did she? Did you ever see a Speaker publicly rip up a SOTU address? How many times did she storm out of a room in discussions with Pres. Trump? Perhaps, he put a crimp in her quest for power and she wasn’t having any of it.
Biden? He’s just lost. Biden and Pelosi are both very scary people and a threat to the freedom of our Republic.
