the recent impeachment trial said in a new interview he was honored to do so.“I was standing up for the Constitution and the president, and I was honored to do it. And the idea that you should be embarrassed somehow to be Jewish and do that—I don’t understand it

“Reparations for slavery are an integral part of fulfilling the international legal mandate to eliminate racial discrimination. The United States is not exempt from these responsibilities. And H.R. 40 would represent important progress in fulfilling its obligations under international law,” she said.Others said they opposed the proposed legislation, including Rep. Burgess Owens (R-Utah).“It is impractical and a nonstarter for the United States government to pay reparations. It is also unfair and heartless to give Black Americans the hope that this is the reality,” said Owens, whose great-great-grandfather arrived in the U.S. on a slave ship.“The reality is that Black American history is not one of a hapless, hopeless race oppressed by a more powerful white race. It is instead a history of millions of middle- and wealthy-class Black Americans throughout the early 20th century achieving their American dream. We are discussing this morning the theory of reparation; it is nothing new. It’s been tried over the last 100 years, resulting in the misery and death of 100 million men, women and children. It’s called redistribution of wealth, or socialism.”
Biden will be glad to support the study on slavery reparations as long as he doesn’t have to make a concrete decision one way or the other. Reparations is verbal engineering so let’s be honest and call it what it is. Money in exchange for your vote.
First of all, making payments to people in 2021 is not going to make up for the suffering people endured as slaves. What we can do is hold up a shining example of what their descendants overcame and achieved or as Owens put it a history of what these Americans achieved. The reparation for slavery was already paid for by people who gave their LIVES to end it.
What i owe people is respect. PERIOD. If someone needs help i am more than glad to give them whatever i’m able. It doesn’t necessarily have to be monetary either. It could be friendship, a shoulder to lean on an ear to listen or support through a particular situation. I can’t be friends with everyone though. It doesn’t work that way. None of us can. There are people in our lives we meet that we hit it off with immediately and others we honestly just do our best to tolerate-we can give them the respect they deserve, nothing more. Race has nothing to do with any of it. It’s human nature. Reparations? i can tell you where this is going to go. Anyone who opposes it will be called racist. The Democrats always find a way to divide the American people. As long as we’re divided it suits their purposes. We won’t be opposing them or so they think. i say here’s the deal Biden & you can include it in the study: my ancestors had nothing to do with slavery, not even remotely. They came here from Poland and Italy LONG after the Civil War. We know what socialism did to their countries and we sure as hell aren’t going to let anyone impose a new form of slavery on the American people.Rep Owens is a 100% correct. He sees slavery reparation for what it is.
post script:sorry Biden, but i have no respect for corrupt people. nothing personal. it’s a matter of principle.

Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) suggested Thursday that Capitol Police and Democrats are hyping up the bizarre online theories of QAnon as justification for keeping Washington DC under ‘occupation’.
Following a story in Newsweek that highlighted how some QAnon followers believe President Trump is to be ‘reinstalled’ on March 4th, Capitol authorities and Democrats used it as a reason to keep troops and razor wire fences in place.
During a Wednesday hearing, House Armed Services Committee Chairman Adam Smith said “Some of these people have figured out that apparently 75 years ago, the president used to be inaugurated on March 4. OK, now why that’s relevant, God knows, at any rate, now they are thinking maybe we should gather again and storm the Capitol on March 4. … That is circulating online.”
