-When It Comes to the Virus, i have no agenda

I’m obviously a Trump supporter and come hell or high water am voting for him in November.
That’s a given. When it comes to the virus I do not want to see it politicized. It’s hard to avoid in an election year of course. You want me to be honest, imagine you do,then i have to admit what prompted all the recent blog entries on Covid-19 was the furious debates on Twitter.

When the virus first started spreading the m.o. was that it wasn’t much worse than the flu and not a lot to worry about.

Next thing we knew the country was in a lock down,we were shut in our homes, the economy was put on hold and we were in a panic.

Fortunately,to Pres Trump credit, while some were still in the ‘what me worry phase’ he put a travel ban on China ;later a travel ban on Europe.

He was called xenophobic, racist, and over reacting. The Democrats were actually in the middle of impeaching him and that’s all they were worried about.

What a head spin it was to go from being oblivious to the danger to total panic. The Pres job was to get info to the people without causing either wide spread panic or careless nonchalance.
How on earth do you do that? Good luck.
We’re at the point now of arguing back and forth.Shut down or open up, start school, don’t start school, wear a mask, don’t wear a mask…on and on.It was at this point i decided i needed good information;didn’t know much.

You can’t make good decisions without good information.

When i first began the search ran into a lot of articles that seemed to be mostly OPINION pieces. I think i may have posted just one.The information was fairly accurate so i gave that one a pass. Most articles weren’t helpful at all. We don’t need opinions. We need facts.

That’s when i decided i would narrow the information down to Dr-especially Dr who had experience with the virus- and legitimate scientists with good data.

Forget Dr Fauci. I am not going to demonize the man especially when some of the information he provided was useful and correct.

I’d prefer to hear from Dr in the field though and stay completely away from Fauci. If ppl don’t trust him [and it seems they don’t]then even good information provided by him is useless.

He’s been in the bureau a long time. I wouldn’t say that makes him untrustworthy but i prefer to look outside the usual characters for a change.

When you go through the articles and videos take note: there is not one mention of Bill Gates. Forget him. He does not figure into this picture.

We do not have a vaccine let alone a Gates vaccine. When the times comes and we actually have one I am going to depend on the recommendations of our PCP.PERIOD.

Pres. Trump has put research & development on a fast track just like he did with the medical equipment. The medical equipment we lacked when the virus first hit.

Now let’s dive right into what i’ve learned so far from people who know far more than i do-than most of us do.
1. masks are not total protection but they offer some protection.

You can have a fit about wearing one to a store or restuarant but you are not going to get into a doctor’s office or hospital without one. They must have a reason.

Every Doctor i found on the internet said the same thing;wear a mask. Our PCP has certain protocols in place at his office. Case closed for me.

2. Recovered patients may be recovered but a number of these people still suffer from the effects and they’re pretty horrifying.

There’s a consensus on that point, with Dr who have treated Covid. Unfortunately some of the effects of Covid infection may be long term.

3. There are ppl who think the virus is a hoax. The people who have contracted the virus beg to differ and some of those people also thought it was a hoax, until they got it.

4. The President is not a doctor. He has concerns beyond protecting the American people from a pandemic.

A Doctor only has to look at a patient’s condition. The Pres has to look at the pandemic from all angles including economic. His decisions are going to affect the WHOLE COUNTRY on several levels long term.

Sorry, not easy. Pray for our President. Pray for our country. Pray for our doctors.

If you’re not a religious person at least support our President and our country at a time when that’s sorely needed. You want to blame someone for the pandemic? It’s not the President. It’s the CCP in China and the WHO.PERIOD.

5. If we would go for herd immunity-something we’ve heard people talk about-a lot of people would have to die before it’s acheived, if it can even be acheived with this virus(BIG IF).

The outcome is TOTALLY unethical and then it might not even acheive the goal of immunity.
From the Mayo Clinic:

Herd immunity occurs when a large portion of a community (the herd) becomes immune to a disease, making the spread of disease from person to person unlikely. As a result, the whole community becomes protected — not just those who are immune.

Often, a percentage of the population must be capable of getting a disease in order for it to spread. This is called a threshold proportion. If the proportion of the population that is immune to the disease is greater than this threshold, the spread of the disease will decline. This is known as the herd immunity threshold.

What percentage of a community needs to be immune in order to achieve herd immunity? It varies from disease to disease. The more contagious a disease is, the greater the proportion of the population that needs to be immune to the disease to stop its spread. For example, the measles is a highly contagious illness. It’s estimated that 94% of the population must be immune to interrupt the chain of transmission.

Let’s say we don’t go the vaccine route to get to herd immunity with Covid-19. Again, from the Mayo Clinic:

…in the U.S., 70% of the population — more than 200 million people — would have to recover from COVID-19 to halt the epidemic. If many people become sick with COVID-19 at once, the health care system could quickly become overwhelmed. This amount of infection could also lead to serious complications and millions of deaths, especially among older people and those who have chronic conditions.

Ask yourself;how many people in the U.S. have chronic conditions such as obesity, high blood pressure, heart conditions(known and unknown),diabetes.

6. Articles re children and the spread of Covid. From BOTH sides of the debate re school reopenings.

Draw your own conclusions, but the articles seem to favor the side of cautiously opening schools. As a parent though ONLY YOU can make that decision for your child/children.

7. I’d like to get more info re Vitamin D and its affect on Covid. When there’s enough information to post and can make head or tail of it that’s when i’ll weigh in. It sounds promising but like everything else you run into you can never be sure wether it’s good info, misinformation or simply lacks the evidence to back it up.
