NOTE: Please don’t take this as saying you must drop any narrative that YOU want to go with. I’m just a run of the mill Trump supporter, not a know it all who has never been wrong. Leave that to the media-they happen to be desperate right now and they will get even more desperate, as we know from past experience.I’m also taking short breathers from Twitter. Need to take a look around now and then.I’m guilty of thinking Twitter always reflects the real world just from being there far too long.Years in fact. You know you’ve been there too long when you see a name trending and wonder who died.
Remember how Hillary’s win was a sure thing. The media, pollsters, pundits and certainly Hillary believed she had it in the bag. At least until the day she panicked and said,”why aren’t I 50 points ahead you might ask?” I think then she was getting a little nervous but they still put her down as a sure thing and that Trump had absolutely no chance of winning.
Fast Forward the election of 2020 which begins NOW. I hear a lot about how it’s going to be a Trump landslide, especially on Twitter.
Hillary was supposed to be a shoe in too and Trump had zero chance of winning. How well did that go?
I hope these people are right but i wouldn’t get complacent or count on it. It’s the mistake the Democrats made. They thought they didn’t necessarily have to vote because Hillary was assured of a win and Trump was a terrible candidate. They won’t make that same mistake twice.
The other reason Trump won was because many of the Obama voters stayed home;add those into the Democrats who didn’t think they needed to vote. Then add in people who never voted before to Trump’s column and he actually won.
Remember Trump can only afford to lose maybe 2 states he won the last time around & he can’t afford to lose Florida at all. The Democrats always win California and NY,that is the states with the most electoral votes. That gives them a distinct advantage. Trump did win states that typically went to the Democrat nominee but that may or may not hold true this time.
The bottom line is we can’t afford to be complacent and convinced we have this wrapped up.
Let’s also remember that Twitter Town is not every American town. Most people get their info from cable news. When we’re talking Trump on Twitter we’re preaching to the choir. It may be hard to believe but not everyone is on twitter. We can get an unrealistic view of the political landscape on social media, especially when we’re basically forming groups around people who agree with us.
The media is trying to push the narrative we may be going into a recession. Where the media is getting it wrong is that it’s only a recession if you’re in a recession and can’t support yourself or your family.
Right now the economy is booming and people do have jobs.
i don’t foresee a recession coming. The media is fear mongering. On the other hand we have a whole year to go and there might be some unforeseen event that comes up between now and Nov 2020.i don’t mean an October surprise next year, meaning a contrived political event [that’s all an October surprise is]. I mean some unforeseen event that has a negative affect on either the country or the economy. You might ask, what do i think could happen? Honestly, I don’t know what it might be and that is the whole point. Life is like that. We just don’t know.
What am i getting at here? Let’s stop talking about a Trump landslide. I know we’re thinking the pollsters are off this time, like the last time. The truth is they’ve taken all that into account this time and the polls may not be that far off. I know we rightfully don’t trust them, but what if they are right?
We can’t afford to be sure Trump will win. I know the Democrat candidates are terrible. Doesn’t matter. They don’t have to build up their candidate much;they just have to tear ours(the President)down. Then all they have to do is turn out the vote and believe me they are working on it. All we have to do is remember what happened to the Democrats because they were sure Hillary would win.
It would be great if Trump did win in a landslide but it will be great if he at least wins and the ONLY way that is going to happen is if we turn out the vote too.The worst thing we can do is keep saying Trump Landslide 2020. I’m a 100% Trump supporter.
I want him to win as much as any true blue Trump supporter and that’s exactly why i’m hoping we can drop the Trump Landslide narrative for now.Let’s stay on our toes and be a little anxious. Can we knock on doors, talk to our friends, family and neighbors and make sure people are registered to vote? Can we volunteer to do something for the campaign? If we don’t have the capability to do anything else can we donate even a small amount of money to his campaign and make it on a monthly basis?
If he does win in a landslide i’ll be the first to say, let’s party. If he wins at all I will breathe a sigh of relief. There’s a lot at stake here. There’s a line in a song that goes,”You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.”
If he does win in a landslide it will be historic and the narrative will write itself. If he at least wins we will have elected the greatest president of our lifetime against all odds.
We know the media will try to suppress the polls as we get closer to election day. POLLS DON’ T WIN ELECTIONS,VOTES DO. We can make the mistake of being overly confident and inadvertently influence other people to stay home. We can make the mistake of panicking and inadvertently influence people to stay home because there’s no use. The BEST option is to do neither and at least remain a little nervous; that way we can motivate ourselves and others to get out the vote. It’s all that matters.PERIOD.
