Fox News commentator Charles Krauthammer warned Thursday night that members of the political establishment, including some Republicans, are angling to remove President Trump from office. In a Fox News interview with Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson following Trump’s rally in West Virginia, Krauthammer warned that removing the sitting president from office would be a “catastrophic mistake” that would “cause a rupture in the country.”“I think we are really headed into very choppy and dangerous constitutional waters. We know what the Democrats want to do: they want to get control of the House and then start impeachment. Now, I happen to think, as you know, I opposed the Trump candidacy, I don’t think he is very well fit for the presidency, but fitness is not a reason for impeachment and removal — high crimes are,” Krauthammer said. (“Here we have, we have a prosecutor looking for high crimes. With Watergate, you started with a crime and then you try to find out what happened. Here, they are looking for a crime. Perhaps they will find one, I don’t know. As of yet, I haven’t heard of one. Collusion is unseemly, but it ain’t a crime. So, you have got a political establishment, mostly Democratic, but there are some Republicans who would like to see him taken out of office,” he continued.
I admired Mr Krauthammer but here’s where we disagreed:
Pres Trump is fit for the office of President. He’s done a remarkable job and it’s been a lot of fun believe it or not.Mr Krauthammer certainly didn’t think so. He accepted the election results though because he believed in our Republic.
I also disagreed with Mr Krauthammer when he said “perhaps they will find one [a crime]”. You have to know how Krauthammer felt about Pres Trump; he was very likely thinking, maybe Trump did commit a crime.
Charles was right in his first analysis
With Watergate, you started with a crime and then you try to find out what happened. Here, they are looking for a crime.
He was also right in pointing out it would have to be high crimes and misdemeanors to warrant impeachment. They’re not even close. Another vastly huge difference between Pres Trump and Richard Nixon’s case-among many-is that Nixon faced the Saturday Night Massacre. He was ousted as much by his own party as the Democrat party. There might be one, maybe two Republicans, in the Senate who would support The President’s impeachment but that’s it. It’s DOA as soon as it gets there.Of course, that one would be “Mittens” and God knows who else would be stupid enough.
Unfortunately Mr Krauthammer did not live long enough to see spygate unfold. As much as we disagreed on our assessment of Trump,i know Mr Krauthammer would never have supported the nonsense going on-it’s exactly what he warned us about.
He was also 100% correct in saying Trump has a formidable army. Yes he does. The Orlando rally was proof positive we are a force to be reckoned with. We are MAGA.People always wonder who are we going to have to lead us after Trump is gone. We are a movement. The movement goes on. We’ll know when the time comes. I am going with whoever Trump endorses. If he can endorse him then he’s worthy to carry the torch.Trump knows that it’s more about us than it is about him.
I remember how, in the waning days of the election, Charles was always putting his chips on ‘wine, women and song.’
It was a shock when Charles Krauthammer left us. I remember when he called into Fox-knew something was definitely wrong then and feared the worst. I didn’t expect he would leave us that quickly after the call.
As much as we disagreed about Trump i truly felt sad when he passed away. Miss his banter on Fox. I think he was just old school, where you had to talk a certain way, to be what he considered fit for office.Let’s be honest and say that it’d be a treat to hear some of these politicians on a hot mic every chance we had. They don’t fool me with their fancy and prim talk in front of a camera. What i do admire most about Trump is that you know he will never stab you in the back. If he has a problem with you, he will tell you to your face.
Trump isn’t one to beat around the bush or feel shy about trolling the media. It’s exactly what endears him to the American people. Obama had a great way of speaking-quite esoteric.I wasn’t impressed.People that can talk that talk aren’t always saints either. Krauthammer might have eventually come around to Trump, albeit slowly, had he not left us when he did.
Mr Krauthammer was a very smart, remarkable person, so in spite of our differences i put up 2 of his books in the bookstore;Great Reads on the menu.Had to get them in there for summer reading!
