Rand Paul levels Justin Amash and says the origins of this investigation was very partisan and not libertarian at all. Look for Amash to jump ship any day. He is no conservative, but grandstands for publicity. Vote Jim Lower, Dist 3, MI primary.https://t.co/ErIpwIv3bC

The Democratically controlled House of Representatives cast a ballot Friday 236-173 for the Equality Act, which would expect schools to incorporate male competitors who distinguish as transgender young ladies on female games groups. Eight Republicans crossed partisan principals to vote in favor of the bill, which had consistent Democratic help.
Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller released a joint statement with Attorney General William Barr Wednesday evening; raising even more questions over his unusual press conference that fueled Democrats’ calls for impeaching President Trump.“The Attorney General has previously stated that the Special Counsel repeatedly affirmed that he was not saying that, but for the OLC opinion, he would have found the President obstructed justice. The Special Counsel’s report and his statement today made clear that the office concluded it would not reach a determination -one way or the other- about whether the President committed a crime. There is no conflict between these statements,” said a joint press release from Barr and Mueller’s offices.
Comey testified to the Senate Intelligence Committee in June 2017 that he leaked memos he wrote after conversations with Trump in order to force the appointment of a special counsel.
“I asked a friend of mine to share the content of a memo with the reporter, I didn’t do it myself for a variety of reasons, but I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel,” Comey testified June 8, 2017. (RELATED: James Comey Denies Being A Leaker)
Comey instructed his friend, Daniel Richman, to give the Times a memo he wrote about a conversation he had with Trump on Feb. 14, 2017. Comey claimed Trump asked him to shut down an investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
Comey’s ploy worked, as Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel May 17, 2017.
Comey leaked the story to his friend who passed it onto the New York Times;Comey’s intention. He came up with the convoluted idea that because he didn’t leak it directly it wasn’t a leak. It was a leak. My first question is why would this story prompt the appointment of a special counsel anyway?
We don’t even know if the story was true. We would have to take Comey’s word for it.
If the story were true the next question is,so what? It’s understandable. That said, the next step would have been to talk to the President,at least confirm the story then ascertain what the President’s motives were;not call up a Special Counsel.
In fact Comey included the conversation between him and Pres Trump regarding Michael Flynn in the memo.He quotes Trump.
“I HOPE you can let this go.”
The quote doesn’t square up with the claim reported by the media. The media claimed Trump asked Comey to shut it down. It’s obvious that Trump did not. I can hope someone will do something but hoping for the action of the person is not the same as ORDERING or INSISTING the person actually does it. Of course Pres Trump hoped that he could let Flynn go.Comey includes this quote of Trump in the memo,
“I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”
Another words Trump sees Flynn as a good guy and hopes that Comey can let it go.It certainly wasn’t a big enough deal to warrant calling up a Special Counsel. It’s not even remotely related to Russian interference. Flynn wasn’t charged with working with the Russians. He’s charged with a process crime-lying to the FBI-that some in the FBI didn’t think he did either.
The Rosenstein Scope memo calls for a full & thorough investigation of the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 election.
You don’t have to take my word for it. Read the memo.
The Special Counsel was supposed to be looking at the efforts of the Russian government and to me that would mean looking at both campaigns. I don’t mean pointing the finger at either campaign.I do mean looking at how the Russian government might have tried to interfere with the Presidential election.
As soon as the Special Counsel was called up Mueller was appointed. There was never a question from DOJ who might lead the investigation. It was almost as if Mueller was good to go from day one. What’s even stranger is the team Mueller assembled to work for him. [Keep in mind Rosenstein would have never been in the position to do any of this had they not pressured Sessions to recuse himself[.
Also keep in mind there wasn’t exactly proof the Russians tampered with the election. Let’s suppose they had;the truth is it had no bearing on the outcome of the election and there was common knowledge that Russia was always trying to tamper with our elections. Nothing new under the sun.
I recall then President Obama had made a statement it wasn’t possible. If anyone should have been concerned with Russian (or any foreign government)tampering and could have done anything about it,it should have been Obama. He wasn’t concerned. He told candidate Trump to “quit whining.”
My point is this: how on earth was Comey’s testimony before Congress a catalyst to call up what amounted to the investigation of the Trump campaign. The FBI didn’t get the chance to investigate the supposed hacking of the DNC computers. The DNC approved of Crowdstrike instead and sent their report to the FBI. The government put the Crowdstrike findings on record but I understand that they never backed them. Why would the DNC refuse to let the FBI check out their computers? If you really wanted to know, the FBI would be the agency of choice. For their part, if the FBI were doing an honest and thorough investigation they would not have taken no for an answer.Look at the trouble they went to with the raid on Roger Stone. They even violated attorney/client privilege when they raided Michael Cohen’s office and residence.Yet,they were willing to say okie dokie to the DNC when the DNC said thanks, but no thanks.

I say that the Comey testimony was used as cover to call up the Special Counsel. It was a ridiculous cover, but it obviously worked. I will even go so far as to say that Comey,Mueller (team included)and Rosenstein had probably been planning it all along.
Remember these 3 facts: 1. Rosenstein was the acting AG.He had completely taken over the DOJ after Sessions unwarranted & stupid recusal. 2. he sent the letter to President Trump basically requesting Comey’s termination. At the time did anyone have a problem with it?I don’t recall the Democrats or Republicans being huge fans of Comey. 3. in the end Rosenstein was going to leave the DOJ. Barr kept him on DELIBERATELY.
Until today, I have defended Mueller against the accusations that he is a partisan. I did not believe that he personally favored either the Democrats or the Republicans, or had a point of view on whether President Trump should be impeached. But I have now changed my mind. By putting his thumb, indeed his elbow, on the scale of justice in favor of impeachment based on obstruction of justice, Mueller has revealed his partisan bias. He also has distorted the critical role of a prosecutor in our justice system.
