Joan's Rome

I leave very early tomorrow morning for Chicago to attend the farewell events for Cardinal Francis George, a very good friend of mine, as you known from these pages. I doubt I’ll be able to post tomorrow but always check in – you never know! I will do my best to post something while I am in Chicago. I’ll be downtown for three nights and then wil spend two nights with a cousin in Glenview before I return to Rome.

There’s always something big happening in Rome and today, April 21 is often the biggest day of the year for Romans and visitors. You see, April 21 is Rome’s birthday. The Eternal City is 2,768 years old – born in 753 BC!  There are endless events – cultural, musical, etc. – celebrated both on this day and during the weekend closest to this date. One attendee at the Republican Jewish Coalition session, held at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas with owner Sheldon Adelson in attendance, transcribed large portions of Bush’s remarks. The former president, who rarely ever criticizes Obama in public, at first remarked that the idea of re-entering the political arena was something he didn’t want to do. Listen up! What I learned in Jordan about the Middle East

This morning, I had the great pleasure of chatting with Relevant Radio’s “Morning Air” host, John Harper, about what I learned of the country itself and the Middle East in general on my recent trip there.

I’d like to share the segment with you because I believe you’ll hear things you never knew before. Please do listen, and share this link with your family and friends.

Ready to Roll?

morning yall donkey

got out of a nice warm bed this morning in time to say part of the Prayer to St Micheal. Read several blog entries by Father Z. Reblogged and Tweeted. All worth reading and tweeting(of course).

Headed over to twitter and grabbed 2 of the best tweets with LIghtshot.

Most of the news was bleak to say the least.

I have to grab the full speech by Pres George W. Bush today. Word is he finally spoke up about Obama. Our former President has been too gracious over the last 6 yrs but that’s how he treated the office. More than i can say for someone else.

The coffee pot is on so the plan is to guzzle a few more cups while our aide and husband have headed over town.

Hope your morning is starting off well.

Now for those tweets.

Great points made in 140 characters(or less). Here they are:
