Open Letter to Democratic Strategist Doug Schoen

Hi Doug,

i always catch you and your side kick Pat Caddel (think he’s awesome…an overdone word,i know)on Fox News.

This is the first time i ever felt compelled to write an open letter to you. You commented during a Breaking News event on Fox tonight. The comment bugged me.I couldn’t let it go.

You were talking about the progressive mantra that our founding documents support the seperation of church and state.Ok Doug,WHERE?

You mean the establishment clause? Not what it says.

It says CONGRESS shall make no law establishing a religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof(Paraphrase, think i got it close). It doesn’t restrict the church. It restricts the Congress. Why is that?

Historical context Doug. King Henry the VIII.Remember him? Henry declared the Church of England as the established church with himself as its head. The Founders revolted against England. We fought a war against Great Britian. We became an independent nation. The founders didn’t want another Henry the VIII with the President as the head of the Church. The only seperation they intended was the seperation of power in 3 branches of government;executive, legislative and judicial.

If you really want to find the seperation of church and state in a founding document you only have to look as far as the Constitution of the[former]USSR.

“ARTICLE 124. In order to ensure to citizens freedom of conscience, the church in the U.S.S.R. is separated from the state, and the school from the church”

There ya go. How well did that work out?

2. I know there is an anti Catholic streak in our country. Always has been. Lately though some of the most anti Catholic people are “Catholics” themselves. For some reason they don’t know, don’t get or don’t care what the Church teaches.

IMHO It’s the latter. There’s no way on earth one could not possibly know what the Catholic Church teaches. I know non Catholics who know exactly what the Church teaches. They may not understand why but at least they know what the teaching IS.

For Catholics that don’t know the teachings of their faith it isn’t invincible ignorance. In most cases there’s just no excuse. i highly recommend the Catechism of the Catholic Church. One can buy the book, but if you’re broke there’s always the online version.

You are probably going to disagree with me but i am convinced that liberalism, aka progressivism, aka socialism(whatever you want to call it)is going to absolutely destroy our country. You have to be able to see its fruits. You’d have to have a set of very intellectually dark dishonest glasses on to miss them. BTW.I WAS a liberal and Democrat for a very long time so it’s not as if i’m saying this from ignorance. Been there, done it,did that.Bad news.

New Year
