Homosexuality.An honest look(PLS no politics)

First we ask ourselves the question; What does it mean to be human? Who sets the bar?

My answer would be Jesus.God became man and taught us how to truly love. He gave us the way. He set the bar.

Jesus asks the woman caught in adultery who has condemned her. No one of course. Jesus questioned the people who WERE going to stone her by asking, who of them was without sin.The only one standing there who was without sin was Jesus and He wasn’t casting any stones.

What did Jesus say to her then,GO and SIN NO MORE.

We can see the compassion Jesus has for us(sinners)but people sometimes skip the part where He calls it sin and tells her(us) to give it up.
Jesus is cornered by the religious leaders who ask  Him about divorce. Jesus responds that they are going by Mosaic Law instituted because man(humankind) was stubborn. Jesus is clear.Marriage is to be as it was “in the beginning.” Yes,Adam and Eve were married.I know because my husband and I married each other and the priest was a witness. The man and the woman marry each other. God was their witness.
There are a ton of the teachings of Jesus we could go through to see what it means to be human and i think we will spend a day or two in the near future doing just that;for now let’s conclude this introduction  by talking about His ultimate act of love. I am very aware that Jesus does not set the bar for some people. Will be taking that into account as we go along.

We take away several key truths:

Humans have a dignity given to them by God.

According to Scripture we are made in His(God) image and likeness.

Adultery is a serious sin. In fact, Jesus tells us that if you lust in your heart you have already committed adultery. Finally marriage is a covenant of one man,one woman for life.

For those who don’t believe in Jesus we can still arrive at some truths.

Humans have dignity. We have the capability of doing good.  Unfortunately we are also attracted to evil. In the Catholic faith we would say that we are attracted to sin.

Adultery is serious. We can see that it  wrecks destruction especially on marriages.

There is an idea  that if you do certain immoral acts  they hurt no one.Not true. When we have relationships with people and live in a society, what we do matters.

If you don’t think evil affects our country or the world at large then you have either  been living  a very protected life or living in  a cave out in the wilderness.

Unfortunately we have come to believe that it’s a step up to be broadminded when it comes to morality.

fulton sheen and right

The family is the foundation of society.

The family falls,so goes  society.

Marriage is between one man,one woman for life. We know that’s true because male/female are complementary. We know that’s true because male/female can bring life into the world.

We know that a purpose of marriage is to become ONE.We know that the other purpose is to have children. We know both are true because they’re ‘wired’ for it. The biology adds up.It’s called reproduction.

We know  this complementary relationship was intended because if the human race had begun with 2 men the human race would be extinct ;in fact extinct from the beginning. The same is true if the human race had begun with 2 women.

The only way to go outside those boundaries is to REDEFINE marriage and once you do that it has NO MEANING AT ALL.It doesn’t affect my marriage personally of  course. My own  marriage is not going to fail because marriage is redefined. Not the  point.

We were warned:

Not much experience is needed in order to know human weakness, and to understand that men — especially the young, who are so vulnerable on this point — have need of encouragement to be faithful to the moral law, so that they must not be offered some easy means of eluding its observance. It is also to be feared that the man, growing used to the employment of anti-conceptive practices, may finally lose respect for the woman and, no longer caring for her physical and psychological equilibrium, may come to the point of considering her as a mere instrument of selfish enjoyment, and no longer his respected and beloved companion.

Let it be considered also that a dangerous weapon would thus be placed in the hands of those public authorities who take no heed of moral exigencies. Who could blame a government for applying to the solution of the problems of the community those means acknowledged to be licit for married couples in the solution of a family problem? Who will stop rulers from favoring, from even imposing upon their peoples, if they were to consider it necessary, the method of contraception which they judge to be more efficacious? In such a way men, wishing to avoid individual, family, or social difficulties encountered in the observance of the divine law, would reach the point of placing at the mercy of the intervention of public authorities the most personal and most reserved sector of conjugal intimacy.

Think about it, there must be higher love
Down in the heart or hidden in the stars above
Without it, life is wasted time
Look inside your heart, I’ll look inside mine

Things look so bad everywhere
In this whole world, what is fair?
We walk blind and we try to see
Falling behind in what could be

Bring me a higher love
Bring me a higher love, oh
Bring me a higher love
Where’s that higher love, I keep thinking of?

Worlds are turning and we’re just hanging on
Facing our fear and standing out there alone
A yearning, and it’s real to me
There must be someone who’s feeling for me

Things look so bad everywhere
In this whole world, what is fair?
We walk blind and we try to see
Falling behind in what could be

Bring me a higher love
Bring me a higher love, oh
Bring me a higher love
Where’s that higher love, I keep thinking of?

Bring me a higher love
Bring me a higher love, oh
Bring me a higher love
I could rise above on a higher love

I will wait for it, I’m not too late for it
Until then, I’ll sing my song
To cheer the night along

I could light the night up with my soul on fire
I could make the sun shine from pure desire
Let me feel that love come over me
Let me feel how strong it could be

Bring me a higher love
Bring me a higher love, oh
Bring me a higher love
Where’s that higher love, I keep thinking of?

Bring me a higher love
Bring me a higher love, oh
Bring me a higher love
