A final word on proof for God.An atheist might ask,why the need for a Creator at all? For a group of people who usually appeal to science that’s a strange question. It just doesn’t work. You can’t get anything from absolutely nothing.
If you accept the universe began with the big bang-it’s a possible theory that i accept-then the only plausible explanation is God.The only plausible explanation for Creation period is God. Life as we know it was not some remarkable accident and God gave man(humans)the intellect to figure this out.We can study the cosmos and know what’s up because we have the intellect to do it.IMHO an atheist knows deep down God exists and Jesus is real but doesn’t want to admit it because of what that implies for his life.Let’s not let pride get in the way of absolute truths,k? I guarantee if you don’t believe in God that you have a god anyway.
We do know Jesus changed the world. The gospel changed civilization. It’s undeniable.
He founded a Church and 2k yrs later it’s still here. Now given some of the people who belonged to this Church it’s pretty reasonable to conclude it was humanely instituted but had to be divinely instituted to stand up as long as it has.
The first answer an atheist will come up with is the Crusades and the Inquisitions. It’s the first answer an anti Catholic will come up with too.
What they are trying to say is that the Church was cruel, barbaric and had a terrible record.
Look at the atheist states before slamming the Church. How about Hitler’s Germany and Nazism. How about Stalin’s Russia and Communism? How about the Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge? Even today, how about N Korea and how that atheistic state under 2 dictators-father and son-is starving its own people. Add it up.
Back to the infamous Crusades and let’s get it historically correct.
Palestine, Syria, and Egypt—once the most heavily Christian areas in the world—quickly succumbed. By the eighth century, Muslim armies had conquered all of Christian North Africa and Spain. In the eleventh century, the Seljuk Turks conquered Asia Minor (modern Turkey), which had been Christian since the time of St. Paul. The old Roman Empire, known to modern historians as the Byzantine Empire, was reduced to little more than Greece. In desperation, the emperor in Constantinople sent word to the Christians of western Europe asking them to aid their brothers and sisters in the East.
That is what gave birth to the Crusades. They were not the brainchild of an ambitious pope or rapacious knights but a response to more than four centuries of conquests in which Muslims had already captured two-thirds of the old Christian world. At some point, Christianity as a faith and a culture had to defend itself or be subsumed by Islam. The Crusades were that defense.
For the whole article read here:
Then we ask,was Jesus what He claimed to be,God? What does that mean for us?
Jesus was not just some nice guy with teachings on how to be nice to other people.
Jesus was not some radical man who convinced a group of people to adopt his radical message and way of life.
Jesus historically existed. Jesus did not come with name recognition, money or military. He was born in an obscure village that we probably would never have heard of unless He was what He claimed to be.He had eyewitnesses. Barbaric nations became civil because of Christianity.Civilization was changed because Jesus was who He claimed to be. It’s undeniable.PART III [tomorrow]Jesus, truly God and man
I Will Always Love You
Love Has No Pride
How could anyone not believe in God’s existence? The flying spaghetti monster is not an answer.
I’ve heard all the arguments against the existence of God and it goes something like this:
First they quote scripture.I still can’t get over that. How do you use God’s revelation and say He doesn’t exist?
They point out the mean, nasty God of the OT and can’t seem to reconcile this with the teachings of Jesus.
They forget that the nomadic somewhat primitive tribes of the OT are not the same people that Jesus encountered when He entered time, space and history.
The people of ancient Israel left no great works of art or architecture. They made virtually no contributions to astronomy, medicine, physics, or biology. They created no mighty empire. And yet the Israelites are probably the most important of all ancient civilizations in terms of their impact on subsequent civilization.
The truth is that as civilization goes they were babes in the woods and God would deal with them as such. You would not teach your 2 yr old to build a house or drive a car. In fact, you would most likely discipline them if they endangered their lives. You tell a 2 yr old not to run into the road, touch a hot stove or play with matches. If they do you make sure they don’t do it again. It’s not mean. It’s for their benefit; it’s to keep them alive and unharmed.
This is the God of the OT.
They would not be at the same level they were in the time of Jesus either.
We could call the people at the time of Jesus teens, probably even young adults, in the time line of civilization. There is no contradiction between the God of the OT and the God of the NT. Today we have reached adulthood. We can look at God revealed in scripture and tradition through our eyes.
Atheists take the next big leap and say that religion opposes science[faith opposes reason].
If you look at civilization again you will see pagan cultures that gave their gods different attributes. One god was in charge of weather, another seasons, another death. On and on. Every god seemed to control a natural phenomenon. What need would they have for science? Now take Christianity and our belief in ONE God who created the Universe. What does that mean? It means there is an eternal being with a superior intellect and we can study His creation. It means we know that we can’t jump off a 20 story building and live to tell the tale because there’s gravity. It means we know that 2 +2=4 and you can say 5 all you like, but it’s not going to work out in reality.
Many Catholics, both clerics and laypersons alike, have made significant contributions to the development of science and mathematics from the Middle Ages to today. These scientists include Galileo Galilei, René Descartes, Nicolas Copernicus, Louis Pasteur, Blaise Pascal, André-Marie Ampère, Gregor Mendel, Charles-Augustin de Coulomb, Pierre de Fermat, Antoine Laurent Lavoisier, Marin Mersenne, Alessandro Volta, Augustin-Louis Cauchy, Pierre Duhem, Jean-Baptiste Dumas, Roger Boscovich, Pierre Gassendi, and Georgius Agricola, to name a few.
There are lists on the internet. Here’s the one from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Catholic_scientists
You can thank the Catholic Church for the university as well.
We know that the universe could not create itself. We know that Creation would have to be ex nihilo. We know that for life to exist as we know it the Creator would have to be far superior to us. We know that for us to understand the universe and search for a Creator the Creator would have had to give us an intellect capable of doing so. We know that the Creator would have to exist eternally. The answer is not the flying spaghetti monster. The Creator MUST be God.
It means that Jesus and His teaching is so unique that His existence changed civilization forever.
End of Part I….Part II Jesus Changes The World
It’s coming along. My notebook has the usual bunch of scribbles. Have some research to do to make sure some of the info is correct-then we’ll get it started.
One point that I really plan to touch on is the idea some non Christians (MAYBE even some Christians)have that there are 2 different God’s. In the movie Noah God is characterized,(for what little bit God is even suggested),as a borderline psycho. Nothing could be further from the truth but people do bring up the old meany God and the loving Jesus. They seem to want to ‘get’ you by mentioning the difference. It’s always atheists too. They quote scripture;if you don’t believe in God not sure how you think you can use God’s revelation to prove His non existence but they do.The post is going to show why there is no contradiction between the Old and New Testament. I also hope spell out that it’s a false choice between science and religion-or put another way, between faith and reason.
Husband went out of town to pick up his shoes. i’ve been on the phone trying to get information about our local GED classes for a family member of his. A little tied up but now i can get busy and use the rest of the free time i have to scribble out more notes. We’ll be back shortly and get the entry started. Beautiful day too. Still a tad chilly. Our warmest day was Monday and was that a teaser. It was in the 70’s. Think we’re due for quite a bit of rain-maybe some thunderstorms-over the weekend. I keep thinking there may be one more snowstorm to go. Anyway,i will be back and get the God exists post done. Leaving with a prayer for the day.
Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart
O Jesus, Son of God and our Saviour, have mercy on all who wound Thy Sacred Heart by sin, unfaithfulness and neglect. O loving Heart of Jesus, broken by our ingratitude, pierced by our sins, yet loving us still, accept in reparation the suffering I now make to Thee of all that I am and all that I have. Draw me ever nearer to Thy Sacred Heart: there where I can learn best, teach me, O Jesus, Thy blessed way to eternal life. Amen.

Don’t care for her politics or pov but love the voice. She has Parkinson’s.A disease that my dad and Blessed John Paul II both suffered from.
pls continue to pray for the people at Fort Hood especially the families of those who have lost loved ones. You may also want to remember the people of Chile in your prayers who have gone through the recent earthquake.I’m working on an entry for atheists, agnostics and relativists. It’s going to take most of the day. One of the few times i also have to take notes. Of course,it will be in between other things that need done today. I’ll be back towards evening or night.Meanwhile everyone have a wonderful day and if it’s not going well you’ll be in my prayers,k?
Time for coffee 🙂
