Before i give it up and get under a ton of blankets

some ramblings for the week:

Agree with Bill O Reilly 100% in his analysis of the consequences of legalization of pot. Bad news. We get nothing but bad news in our country anymore anyway.

I also heard that Obama is going to go on the stump about income inequality for 2014. Terrific. Since HE created most of it by his own politics. He’s gonna promise the goodies. The Democrats are going to promise the goodies.I don’t have much faith left in the American people anymore.
We can hope they won’t fall for it.I think i said that when Obama was up for re-election too.

The BIG chill is coming. It’s already on the way.We had this voracious wind last night out of nowhere. Very bizarre. It took down the tree next door landing on a (Thank God)vacant garage. Husband thought we were going to lose our roof and i thought our windows were going to blow out. I think he was actually scared.Find it hard to believe. It lasted less than 5 min but seemed like 20. Pretty wicked. It quit as fast as it came. NO thunderstorms in the area-not even close.

They weren’t even calling for wind in the forecast.Like i said, bizarre. An anomaly?

A bit like the Polar Vortex.

Anyway, the cold is coming. Gave aide the day off. Just when we have a lot to do but i guess we can make it up from Thursday through Saturday. Extra help coming the 13th to 18th. I’m getting anxious to move now. Get done, get moved, go over and unpack. The WORST part.

A little nervous.New home. Kinda spooky in a way. At least the first few nights will be.

Eventually it will feel like home.i had the feeling of our present residence of being home right off the bat. It really has felt like home. Very much so. I am going to cry when we leave. We just can’t afford the high rent anymore and this is a chance to buy our own home.

It’s a very nice house. I would call it downsizing.

I’m a little stressed this week though. My brother took off on vacation. I asked him via email to let me know when he was back. He emailed and mentioned school starting on Monday. I didn’t know what to make of it. Well, are you home waiting for school to open? Are you stuck at an airport somewhere? Did you make it back before the airlines were shut down? His telling me school opened again on the 6th didn’t really tell me anything unless I assumed. I’ve sent him a number of emails trying to get him to let me know. No answer. This means he’s either mad at me OR he hasn’t had a chance to write-OR he’s stuck somewhere.

Frustrated. Not sure what i did to upset him if that’s the case. Meantime,

ImageWORRY WART

The Obama admin and the Dems are going to start on the income inequality soap box soon. Meaning they are going to tout the goodies to help the people they put in the poor house with their own policies.

Also heard Charles Krauthammer say the US is going to have to defend Jordan. This is Obama we’re talking about here. Have our allies ever been able to count on him? Don’t hold your breathe.

That’s a news wrap. On the home front i saw a little girl either in the news,on the internet or I fell asleep and was dreaming that reminded me of my grand Daughter. Looked incredibly like her. I wish i could remember where i saw it. At least when she was a tad younger.

Husband had it out with his son via Facebook after a long phone conversation last night. I have to protect his privacy so i can’t mention the cause of the problem but i can say they have a good relationship so it’s just one of those problems they will have to work on.Needs prayer.

Finally, to wrap up the ramblings we go to the political front and i have to say i am really torn between supporting Allen West who is absolutely a terrific person and would be a remarkable winning candidate and Mitt Romney who’s a good and decent man.I just don’t know that he’d run again. There’s some things i admire greatly in West and some i admire greatly in Romney. They’re both good choices. Torn.

Meanwhile…

Epiphany Water Report!

Posted on 6 January 2014 by Fr. John Zuhlsdorf

The other day I posted about special blessings of sacramentals for Epiphany, including the Blessing for Epiphany Water.

As a follow up, since the blessing of Epiphany Water is reserved to bishops and to priests with permission from their bishop, I asked for and obtained said permission and, with the help of a great group of guys, blessed around 25 gallons yesterday, along with a lot of salt and a bunch of chalk.

No myrrh, alas.

Here is one shot. (beautiful church)

Legalize Pot?

Only if you don’t mind your kids doing drugs. Permissive ppl. Very permissive.

I’m reminded of what Mother Therese said at the National Prayer Breakfast:

“I am so used to seeing the smiles on our people, even the dying ones smile.

And Sister said: “This is the way it is nearly every day. They are expecting, they are hoping that a son or daughter will come to visit them. They are hurt because they are forgotten.” And see, this neglect to love brings spiritual poverty. Maybe in our own family we have somebody who is feeling lonely, who is feeling sick, who is feeling worried. Are we there? Are we there to be with them, or do we merely put them in the care of others? Are we willing to give until it hurts in order to be with our families, or do we put our own interests first? These are the questions we must ask ourselves, especially as we begin this year of the family. We must remember that love begins at home and we must also remember that “the future of humanity passes through the family.”

I was surprised in the West to see so many young boys and girls given to drugs. And I tried to find out why. Why is it like that, when those in the West have so many more things than those in the East? And the answer was: “Because there is no one in the family to receive them.” Our children depend on us for everything – their health, their nutrition, their security, their coming to know and love God. For all of this, they look to us with trust, hope and expectation. But often father and mother are so busy they have no time for their children, or perhaps they are not even married or have given up on their marriage. So the children go to the streets and get involved in drugs or other things. We are talking of love of the child which is where love and peace must begin. These are the things that break peace.

But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child, murder by the mother herself.

And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?”

I heard a so called entertainer say recently that the drug Molly was a ‘happy’ drug.If this person were so happy they wouldn’t need the drug. Personally they looked asinine. Shamefully wasted life.

I never mention their names. They feed on notoriety. The more often you say bad things about them the better they like it. You can pick out any one of these celebrities you like-it could be any one of them.

I feel sorry for the states that have legalized pot. The consequences will be enormous. They won’t be able to keep it away from kids or the criminal element. They won’t be able to keep stoned people off the streets because there is no way to test a limit. What’s the standard going to be? Will employers be able to hire these folks? I know most companies have drug testing.IF i were the folks in Colorado (and other states)I’d be packing up and moving out. Seriously.
