Husband’s Rockin Candy
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 1/2 cups white Kayro Syrup
1 tsp oil flavoring
1 tsp food coloring (your choice)
Combine 1st three ingredients together in a sauce pan.Bring to a boil.Cook to 300 Degrees (need candy thermometer)for hard crack.
Remove from heat & add coloring and/or flavoring.
Pour in cookie sheet sprinkled w/ powdered sugar. Once hardened sprinkle w/ more powdered sugar on candy.Then break into pieces(a hammer comes in handy).
Batch and 1/2
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups water
3 3/4 cup syrup
1 1/2 tsp flavoring
Double Batch
3 cups sugar
2 cups water
5 cups syrup
2 tsps flavoring
2 tsp coloring
Sugar Cookies
1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 cup butter
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Mix confectioners’ sugar, butter or margarine, egg, vanilla and almond extract. Stir in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar.
Roll into big ball and wrap in plastic wrap and let chill for at least 3 hours.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Divide dough into halves. Roll each half 3/16 inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut desired shapes with 2 to 2 1/2 inch cookie cutters. Sprinkle with granulated sugar. Place on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake until edges are a light brown, 6 – 8 minutes.Once the oven has heated 5 min may be enough.
Icing or sprinkle w/ confectioner’s sugar(optional)
